Quality of heat
Heat is not all equal. How useful it is depends mostly on its temperature.
Low-grade and high-grade heat
High-grade heat is hot enough for demanding jobs, such as cooking, industrial processes or producing steam. Low-grade heat is warm rather than hot, but it is well suited to many everyday needs in a home or building.
The heat from a Bitcoin miner
Bitcoin miners produce heat at typically low to moderate temperatures: warm air from air-cooled machines, or warm liquid from liquid-cooled and immersion setups. Like an electric resistance heater, a miner turns nearly all the electricity it draws into heat, and it delivers that heat steadily while it runs. Well-designed heater units are built to run quietly.
What it suits well
- Space heating
- Hot water preheating
- Heated floors
- Pools and spas
- Greenhouses
- Drying
Jobs that need high-grade heat, such as cooking, steam or high-temperature industrial processes, call for other heat sources.
